Alice Chun 2020 Startups Alum featured on Good Morning America for bringing light to Ukraine
Alice Min Soo Chun - general director of Solight Design, accompanied by Sofia Volynets, intern - pediatrician of the hospital "Okhmadit" visited the modular town of Mariapolis, located in Sikhov, and the Mother and Child Center "Unbreakable Mothers". The guests presented self-made flashlights to the displaced children for the holidays.
Alice Min Soo Chun grew up in Seoul, Korea and later moved to New York State. Since childhood, the girl studied origami, she was fascinated by tailoring, design, etc. As a professor of architecture and materials technology at Columbia University, Alice Min Soo Chun created the first solar lantern prototypes with her students.
Alice invented the world's only self-inflating portable solar lantern and called this invention the SolarPuff™ and spent three years field testing it in Haiti. In 2015, she launched them into mass production.
